Inspiration, tips and how-tos

Do you know what is probably the toughest thing about working on each issue of Delaware/Main Line Bride? Not being able to share all the beauty and inspiration that I uncover leading up to production.

Even when I do narrow it down (a painstaking process), joyful surprises occur that I feel must be mentioned.

Heather Vega

For example, two of Today Media’s graphic designers got engaged in 2016. Heather Vega’s boyfriend proposed while the couple was vacationing in Puerto Rico with her family during a hike through the El Yunque National Forest. What really wowed Vega was that her boyfriend asked her father’s permission before popping the question: “That doesn’t happen much anymore,” she says.

Elena Menaquale’s boyfriend completely surprised her the morning of Dec. 19 when he proposed. “I was just waking up and still in my pajamas,” she says.

That is what I love about Delaware/Main Line Bride—the beautiful stories brides-to-be continue to share, along with all the stunning trends, tips and fashions.

Speaking of fashions, our ‘Dream Dress’ issue has styles for every bride, including simple sheaths, ball gowns and plunging necklines. Brides are also opting for color—think pink, champagne, blush and gold. And sleeves are hot—especially for spring and summer weddings.

If you’re planning for a spring or summer wedding, be sure to read “10 Unique Wedding Venues for Your Spring or Summer Wedding,” which highlights venues throughout Delaware and the Main Line each with their own scenic views that are anything but cookie-cutter. And contributing editor Tara Behan writes about 10 area restaurants that are perfect for any al fresco wedding-related soirées.

But with all the fun comes a bit of stress, as well. One cannot dismiss all the paperwork involved like permits, a marriage license and changing your name. Be sure and read Pam George’s story, “6 Things to Do before You Say ‘I Do’.”

And finally, if you’re unsure of which blooms to emphasize in your bouquet, take our ‘Pop Quiz’ on the last page—the result may surprise you.
